The Liberty board comprises four non-executive directors and three executive directors. Between them, the non-executives have nearly 200 years‘ experience in the international wine trade, with on-trade and independent off-trade being their areas of speciality.
A Master of Wine since 1986, David founded Liberty Wines in 1997 with friends Michael and Martin of Shaw and Smith, Riquet Hess and Luciann Flynn. He is one of the UK’s leading experts on Italian wines. David is also a shareholder in the Delta Vineyard in Marlborough (New Zealand) and the Greenstone Vineyard in Heathcote (Australia).
Gary joined Liberty Wines in January 2005, becoming Chief operating officer in the summer of 2007. Responsible for all Liberty’s operations (including Finance, Customer Services, Warehouse, Shipping, IT and HR), Gary is also a director of all of Liberty’s overseas subsidiaries.
A founder member of Liberty Wines with David, Luciann started as marketing and customer services manager and has worked in almost all areas of the company since then. She has finally ended up as project director, looking after projects which touch different areas of the business.
Liberty’s 28-strong sales team covers London, Southern England, Central England and Northern England, as well as Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, and the Republic of Ireland.
