Route Planner

An opportunity has arisen for a Route Planner to join our busy Warehouse & Distribution team.  Reporting to the Warehouse & Distribution Manager, this role is responsible for the following:

- Route planning and analysis using Paragon route planning software
- Maximise van utilisation in order to exceed service levels and keep delivery costs within budget
- Plan daily and weekly vehicle requirements to ensure we maintain our high service standards
- Monitor driver performance and compliance through daily driver briefing and debriefings
- Review new delivery points to ensure we can meet service and safety requirements
- Review existing routes for efficiencies and suggest new routes where appropriate
- Ensure that all vans are loaded in a timely and accurate manner
- Report any delivery issues and stop them recurring
- Work with Customer Services, Sales, and Customers to eliminate service failures
- Manage maintenance of own vans and documentation of contract drivers
- Continuously improve our delivery service by improving efficiency or enhancing service
- Produce monthly management reports on delivery costs and van utilisation
- Assist with deliveries to customers when required

- Process customer orders when required
- Picking and preparation of orders for despatch, including directly from our bond replenishment
- Vehicle loading and unloading (hand ball and forklift)
- Liaison with Customer Services, and other internal departments, to ensure all queries/customer enquiries are resolved within service levels
- Ensure service standards are maintained, work processes are followed, and are continually monitored to be improved
- Process consignments for daily courier dispatches when required

People Management:
- Leading monthly driver meetings
- Coordinate the daily van distribution and assist in supervising the early morning warehouse function
- Manage employed and contract drivers, including planning vehicle requirements in advance
- Implement and manage service expectations for all drivers
- Implement continuous improvement ideas with distribution staff

Health & Safety:
- Work in accordance with Company Health and Safety policies and procedures, ensuring that all staff, including van drivers, comply with Health and Safety requirements

Person Specification:
- Experienced in coordinating a distribution/delivery function and/or fleet management
- Experience of route planning software would be an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of London with an understanding of making and managing deliveries in London
- Computer literate with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Pro-active, and able to manage and plan own and others’ work
- Exceptional team worker with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels of the company

- Monday to Friday 4.30am to 1.00pm with a willingness to work extra hours during peak periods

Salary and Benefits:
Salary range is dependent on experience, with the following:
- Personal bonus of up to 5% of salary based on performance against key objectives
