Background
Liberty Wines was founded in March 1997 by David Gleave to supply quality premium wines to the all sectors of the wine market. It has grown consistently to a company that:
- Will have a turnover of £30m this year
- Sells 450,000 cases from 128 suppliers
- Sell wines from all major wine regions
- Employs over 70 people
Liberty Wines aims to recruit one person already working in the Trade. In WSET parlance, this person would have passed the Intermediate Certificate with Distinction. The ideal candidate would demonstrate the potential to become a first class sales person, a marketer who understands the wine industry or a rounded back office manager.
Roles & Responsibilities Definition
The role will be a varied one with the aim to give the incumbent a detailed yet wide ranging knowledge of all aspects of the company operations whilst providing the various departments within the company with additional resource at times when they need it most. Consequently the role will be very varied and will follow a program which will also encompass training through the WSET.
The apprenticeship programme would run for two years. We expect the candidate to study for WSET Diploma during the apprenticeship.

Given the wide ranging nature of this role, the position will report to the Chief Operating Officer.
Competencies
- Bright and enthusiastic, with an empathy for wine
- Strong written and oral communication
- Quick learner and good team player
- IT literate
- Minimum of WSET Intermediate Certificate
- Languages desirable but not essential
